3 Simple Benefits of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a caring, hands-on therapy which seeks to induce relaxation, to increase energy, to reduce the effects of stress and to restore lost balance to mind, body and soul.

Robert Tisserand

As kids we all learned about our 5 senses: sight, touch, hear, taste, & smell. Through these senses our body interacts with outside elements, affecting our mind, body, & soul. The sense of smell in particular plays a role in our perception. Pungent and stinking odors put us in very moods, where as pleasant smells put in us a good mood. That's why there is a such thing as Aromatherapy. It consists of inhaling essential oils to experience physiological alterations of our being.

Aromatherapy has so many benefits, which are clear to see as soon as you smell an appealing aroma. The healing art of Aromatherapy has been around throughout history, my absolute favorite benefit is the way essential oils can stimulate or destress your mind.

Relieves Stress and Stimulating

Throughout my research for better skincare I always find that stress plays a major role in physical illness and breakouts. Calming aromas such as floral Lavender or Chamomile, literally cause you to relax by breathing them in. An interesting fact about inhaling lavender is that, your brain releases serotonin from it's nucleus and produces a calming effect in the body. There are also stimulating aromas such as citrus oils (Grapefruit) and Peppermint that can heighten awareness and mental clarity. Essential oils are the essence of plants, their soul so to speak.

Directly smelling an essential oil, or using it in your body care products is a great way to incorporate aromatherapy in your daily use. Our soap bars contain essential oils, and steam showers with the essential oils are simply divine. The synergy of essential oils can be absorbed though our senses and heal us.

Improves Sleep Quality

A good night's rest is vital for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. For many of us this is often easier said than done. When bedtime arises it's like our minds miss the message. The calming effects of Aromatherapy can improve your sleep quality. Personally for me lavender sheets put me right to sleep, dreams are sweet, and the morning is good.

Lack of sleep is often caused by the inability to clear our minds. As soon as we lay down, thoughts come rushing to mind. Taking a steam shower or having an aromatic diffuser sets the mood for relaxation. 30 minutes before bed put your phone down and reflect on your day. Inhale calming essential oils and get your mind right before bed for a good night's rest.

Aids in Healthy Skin

We know aromatherapy can be applied through inhalation, but did you know it can also be applied to skin? Our skin is our largest organ and first line of external defense. It is proven that skin absorbs that which it comes in contact whether its good or bad. Essential oils are easily absorbed in our skin and into the blood stream. Due to the high concentration of the oils, it's best to dilute them in a carrier oil such as coconut or almond oil.

Since essential oils are the soul of the plant, they contain healing plant properties. EOs are often anti-bacterial and anti-viral, as plants have ways to heal themselves just as we do. Aromatherapy absorption into the blood stream aids in restoring health and reducing skin problems. This helps to boost the immune system inside and out.

Aromatherapy for the Mind, Body, & Soul

Today the benefits of aromatherapy are known worldwide. Modern science can explain it, but it has to be experienced for you to truly know them for yourself. Aromatherapy is more effective with the use of pure essential oils. It affects the mind, body, and soul. The totality of our being.

Aromatherapy reduces stress and anxiety, stimulates the mind, improves sleep health, and aids in healthy skin. It can be implemented with aromatic diffusers, natural body care products, and candles. We use only essential oils in our soap, to ensure an aromatherapeutic shower every time.
