Cleansing your body is the best way to prepare for your day or prepare for your bed. We constantly sweat and shed dead skin cells, while replenishing new ones. Showers and baths come second nature for us, as a way to wash away dirt and grime. What you use to wash with along with water makes a big difference as to what your doing for your skin. Using all natural bar soaps, liquid soaps, & pastes made with detoxing ingredients helps to detox the skin. Reading the ingredients list is very important for detoxing, as some ingredients listed can be toxic themselves and strip the skin of natural oils.

Activated charcoal soap has become increasingly popular for detoxing face and full body. As well as any soaps containing clays such as Bentonite, Kaolin, or Rhassoul. When it comes to detox baths, you can add ingredients like dead sea or himalayan pink salt and apple cider vinegar to your water and soak for 20-30 minutes.

Drink Lemon/Lime Water

After several hours of your body being in sleep mode, water should be the first thing consumed. This is because water flushes out toxins and cleanses the body within. Adding lemons and limes to the water works wonders for getting the digestive system going and removing toxins from the liver. Starting your day with a glass of lemon water adds flavor and is an easy way to detox the skin and have it glowing. Stay hydrated with fruit infused water to cleanse throughout the day.

Sweating

I know sweating is the most appealing thing, but I have news for you, IT'S TOTALLY NATURAL! Not only is it natural, it's an important function of the body. Sweating is our body's way of releasing bacteria and toxins through the skin. Exercise is one of the best ways to get the body going and produce a good sweat. There are numerous benefits and methods to exercise, my favorite way is with yoga, which for me helps to detox my energy as well. Going to a sauna or sweat lodge is another great way to sweat. The heat can be pretty intimidating, but your skin will love you!

Eating Fibrous Foods

Cleansing the digestive system is a big component of detox. The food we eat is handled there and then what's unnecessary is eliminated. Food can either clog us up or get us going. Fiber is key for cleansing the colon and keeping digestion fluid throughout the body.

There are two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble. Soluble fibers dissolve in water and create a soothing gel substance, which aids elimination. Some example sources are oatmeal, cucumber, carrots, lentils, beans, apples, & pears. Chia seeds, flax seeds, & psyllium husks can be added to smoothies and food for extra fiber. Insoluble fiber doesn't dissolve or absorb in water, so it helps speed the elimination process. Dark leafy greens are a great source, as well as brown rice, cabbage, grapes, brussels sprouts, & broccoli. Get creative with rice bowls and create vibrant plates of tasty fibrous foods.

Drink Herbal Teas

After weeks of use with herbs, you will see that they work healing wonders. Herbal teas help to flush the urinary tract with diuretic herbs and detox various body systems. Combine dried herbs or purchase ready made tea packets for use. Drinking teas with herbs such as peppermint, turmeric, dandelion, & burdock aids with detox. You can drink them 1-3 times a day, mixed with your natural sweetener of choice.
